Anti-Social Behaviour Action Taken – Closure Notice Served. |
||
|
Dear Residents.
Today, I in company with the Local Authority Community Safety Team, attended an address that has been the subject of numerous reports relating to anti-social behaviour (ASB).
Following our investigation and the information provided by members of the community, a Closure Notice has been served on the property. A court hearing has also been scheduled for Friday 17 July, where we will be seeking a Full Closure Order.
What is a Closure Notice? A Closure Notice is a legal power that can be used where a property is associated with nuisance, disorder, anti-social behaviour or criminality that is having a significant impact on the local community. The notice restricts access to the property and acts as an immediate measure to protect local residents while further action is considered by the courts.
What is a Closure Order? A Closure Order is granted by the court and can prohibit all access to a property for a specified period. Breaching a Closure Order is a criminal offence and can result in arrest and prosecution. These orders are designed to bring an end to persistent issues that are causing harm, distress or disruption to the wider community.
As a Neighbourhood Policing Team, we are committed to tackling anti-social behaviour and protecting our communities. Working closely with our partners in the Local Authority, housing providers and other agencies, we will continue to use all available legislation and powers to address issues that negatively affect the quality of life of our residents.
We want our communities to be safe places where people can live peacefully and without fear of intimidation, nuisance or disorder.
Please Continue to Report Issues We would encourage all members of the public to continue reporting incidents of anti-social behaviour, crime and community concerns to us. Information from residents plays a vital role in helping us identify problem locations, build evidence and take positive action. Without reports, we may not be aware of the full extent of issues affecting our communities. By reporting concerns, you help us and our partners investigate matters and, where appropriate, bring them to an end using Police powers or by working with other agencies such as the Local Authority and Housing Associations.
Regards
PS 1650 Andy Holian – Saddleworth & Lees Neighbourhood Sergeant.
